Making a real difference to our communities

Last Chance focuses on 14-19 year old juveniles at risk of receiving a custodial sentence due to continual offending. This scheme has been developed through a partnership between Nottinghamshire community Safety Trust (NCST) and Glen Parva Young Offenders Institute (YOI)

How do we do it? By showing them what prison life is REALLY like at a REAL Young Offender's Institute, enabling them to experience life in a prison environment with a view to deterring them from any form of future offending.

All juveniles coming onto this programme will be expected to obey the same rules as all other inmates and will come into direct contact with prisoners, who may subject them to strong language and engage them in frank discussions about a wide range of subjects.

Juveniles taking part in this Last Chance programme are never put in any danger however, by introducing them to the stark reality of prison life (even for a very short period) it is hoped that they never make it a reality. Habitual offenders will almost certainly experience prison life so for the juveniles on this programme it really is their LAST CHANCE
